The Sportline is a rare version of 190. Good 190s are starting to go up in value thanks to the really big increase in value for the EvoIIs of which only 500 were made. Just my 2 cents. I also think that the car used for a starter project should be a much more common and inexpensive car with plentiful availability of inexpensive parts. The car’s 2.3-litre engine had been more than merely breathed on by Cosworth which had developed an entirely new head cast in alloy, with dual overhead camshafts and the largest valves which could be fitted into the combustion chambers – four for each. Andy or David Halsey are the most likely to know on here. but there is a switch or valve that controls the engine at low revs/idle, this may have an intermittent fault on it. Owns this car. Beats the C class, hands down. Safe, comfortable, reliable.Well engineered, classic Benz exterior line. ~24mpg highway and gridlock city driving combined. $1200-1800/year
